Postgraduate students’ work from twenty two different countries was displayed at Ravensbourne to form Superhuman, this year’s postgraduate degree show which ran from Tuesday 20 September to Saturday 24 September.

The theme of this year’s postgraduate show, Superhuman was in honour of one of Ravensbourne’s most famous graduates, David Bowie. The genius of “space oddity” which inspired generations to “reach for the stars and epitomised the spirit of human exploration” was the source of inspiration to this year’s postgraduate team.

Projects ranged from courses such as MA Communication Design to MSc Wearable Futures and featured ideas like Sonia Gutierrez’s “Blooming Voice”, a kinetic sculpture which stimulates people to reflect on sound and the impact of human actions over the environment.

Dongho Kim and Jason Taylor were awarded 02 Postgraduate Degree Awards for Innovation.

Dongho from MA/MSc Interactive Digital Media scooped 1st prize for his project "Diary of a fly" - a perception of reality from a different viewpoint and Jason Taylor from MSc Applied Technologies was awarded 2nd prize for his project "The bionic toolkit" which explores the idea of changing the way amputees interact with the design world.

Dean of Design and judge of the competition Professor Lawrence Zeegen said: “ I chose these particular projects as I felt not only were they innovative ideas but the presentation of the innovative ideas was exceptional. Both demonstrated creative thinking and a strong use of technology. A huge well done to them both and all students who took part in Superhuman.”

Director Linda Drew said: “I’d like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make Superhuman such a success. Our aim is to assist our students to participate in professional practice and ensure they are equipped with cutting-edge skills to succeed in a creative working life. From walking around the exhibition I can see we have achieved our goal.”
