25 Ravensbourne students were invited to work as facilitators at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) which ran from Wednesday 15 November to Friday 17 November at the Treptow Arena in Berlin, Germany.

WAF runs once a year, with more than 2,000 architecture and design professionals from around the world in attendance. Ravensbourne has been invited to facilitate the event for all but two of WAF’s ten year history, as it has moved between Singapore, Barcelona, and now Berlin.

This year, Ravensbourne were invited by Paul Finch, Editor of the Architectural Review and Architects Journal, as well as Head of the Design CouncilAmong the duties included in the role, students assisted in staffing jury rooms, introducing and closing shortlisted presentations, as well as presenting the awards at the closing Gala Awards dinner which concludes the event.

Additionally, Ravensbourne’s Associate Dean for the Department of Architecture, Layton Reid, was shortlisted in the Global Infrastructure Awards for his ‘Poly City’ project in Tijuana, Mexico.

Commenting, Layton said: “It's a real vote of confidence in Ravensbourne to be invited to assist in the running of WAF; an extremely prestigious event in the global architecture events calendar. It’s a great opportunity for students to meet their icons, having access to some of the world’s greatest architects and designers, with over 800 of them presenting work at WAF.
