Our thoughts are with those affected by the events which unfolded at London Bridge on Saturday evening.
There will be a national silence tomorrow (Tuesday 6 June) at 11.00am to remember the victims of the attack. Whilst not obligatory, please do respect the wishes of others who wish to observe this silence.
We understand that recent events may have been upsetting for both staff and students. Support for students is available via the Student Services Team which can be contacted via email studentservices@rave.ac.uk or telephone +44 (0)203 040 350. Staff can also access support through our Employee Assistance Programme via a 24 hour helpline operated by Health Assured which can be reached on 0800 030 5182.
National Counter Terrorism Police has launched a short public information film which you may find useful. It sets out practical steps that can be taken to stay safe in the rare event of a firearms or weapons attack. This information can be found here.
We'd also like to reiterate the increased security measures we’ve taken here at Ravensbourne and how you can contribute:
Security passes
All staff, students and visitors are subject to security checks and may be asked to show security passes upon entering the building. Everyone is required to visibly display their Ravensbourne ID at all times. If you need a lanyard or clip, please ask Front of House who will supply one.
Visitors
Anyone expecting a visitor must notify Front of House by email 24 hours in advance and provide the following information:
Visitors name
Reason for visit
Date and expected times of visit
Contact telephone number of the host
Front of House will contact the host when their visitor arrives. The guest will not be permitted into the building unescorted. Once in the building visitors must be escorted at all times.
During the evening, we request that students invite a maximum of two guests at any one time who must then also be signed in as above. Where more than two visitors are expected, students must obtain permission from Course Leaders and be prepared to show evidence of this upon request.
Vigilance
Please do not leave any bags unattended in the building or café. Remain aware at all times and help us to ensure that this remains a safe learning and working environment.
