The postgraduate peer mentoring programme has had a successful launch with 46 undergraduates and 33 postgraduates signing up to the programme. This will now be the third year of the programme, which is supported by the HEFCE Postgraduate Support Scheme.
In the past two years, undergraduates have been placed with a fully-trained postgraduate mentor. The benefits have been enormous.

“Really, really useful. My mentor is a qualified architect and it is good to talk to someone with that experience. He raised my self-esteem, looked at my work, and told me things to change/improve to make it industry standard. He presented his work to me, showed me things I should and shouldn’t do, how to do it and my presentations are going really well, I am less nervous,” said one 2015 mentee.

The programme consists of between three to six one-to-one mentoring sessions between February and June.

Mentoring is invaluable as a process of support for students. It can either be around a subject area or for more generic mentoring
