Relocation Staff Survey 2008

View the summary of the survey findings.

As part of the programme to relocate Ravensbourne to Greenwich, we carried out a staff survey in Spring 2008 to provide a better understanding of how staff feel about working for Ravensbourne in the context of our relocation.

The objective of the survey was to help us understand what is important to staff in relation the relocation and to assess how satisfied or dissatisfied they are with what is happening. The first step was to define what we should be measuring (the factors that are most important to employees) so that the main survey is as focused and relevant as possible.

To achieve this The Leadership Factor held focus groups to identify what was important to staff in the context of the relocation, so that the most important factors could be included in a further survey of reasonable length. The Main Survey was then constructed which took the form of a self-completion web-based questionnaire. The questionnaire was confidential.

In July 2008, we published the findings from the main survey.

From this point on the College is focusing on developing action plans to address the findings in the survey. This is a key priority for us and we will report on progress in due course. Already however, several activities are taking place to address the main areas of concern expressed, including:

  • Improving communications - a regular staff newsletter is being introduced from September 2008, site visits and briefings are ongoing, and we hope to organise an all staff event in Greenwich in the Autumn.
  • Utilising staff expertise – the user groups are well underway and each user group will be asked to address the staff survey findings relevant to their area of scrutiny and develop necessary actions. Please visit the wiki to contribute to the discussions.
