The 3D rapid prototyping resource on the ground floor of the CAVE area offers a range of digital rapid prototyping equipment and traditional craft tools for realising solid models and prototypes.
The Isel CNC 3020 is ideal for milling small parts in 3 axis. Industrially proven in the PCB, prototyping, electronics, engraving & glue laying markets, and equally esteemed in the classroom. Design your model in any CAD package, create your tool paths with CAM software, and submit the job.
The Roland LPX-250 is a 3D laser scanner that combines both rotary and plane scanning. It digitises objects accurately and gives the user total control of the scanning process for improved turnaround times.
Roland’s MDX-20 is capable of both scanning and milling. It is ideal for a variety of product design tasks, including reverse modelling, rapid prototyping, jewellery and model making. Select the spindle tip for state-of-the-art CNC milling, or select the Roland Active Piezo Sensor for precise 3D scanning.
3D Systems InVision SR 3-D printer is a multi-jet modelling device that uses Acrylic Photopolymers to produce models that are both high in quality and durable. 3D designs simply have to be saved or exported to an .stl file format and then printed using the InVision software.
The ZUND M-800 cutter/plotter can be employed in a range of 2D operations thanks to its modular head. And it is capable of working with a variety of materials, up to 4mm thick.
In order to facilitate the workflow required by such a resource three networked workstations have been provided. These computers offer all of the software required by the various devices.
